Public Hearing on Proposed Changes to HAR Title 8 Chapter 27 Relating to Transportation

We are a CEP school and need to be aware of this proposed change.  The most substantive change to the rule is to modify the free bus criterion for students who attend schools that participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. The current rule allows all students at CEP schools to receive free bus service by virtue of their free lunch status. The new criteria would require students at CEP schools to qualify for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in order to receive free bus service.

The hearing will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the Ali’i Conference Room at the Queen Liliuokalani Campus (3633 Waialae Avenue, Honolulu). Parking is available in the front lot, the entrance is located on Koko Head Avenue. Please utilize visitor stalls fronting the Administration Building (building next to flagpole). In accordance with Board of Education Administrative Rules, this is going to be the only hearing held on this matter.
